The PG Department of Social Work organized an Observation Visit to the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Cuddalore, for the I MSW students from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on 30.07.2026. The visit was arranged to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of government departments and rural development programmes.
The session began with an orientation by Mr. Velumani, District Coordinator, DRDA, Cuddalore, who delivered an informative lecture on the Swachh Bharat Mission. He explained the objectives of the mission, the importance of sanitation and hygiene, solid and liquid waste management, cleanliness initiatives, and the active role of youth and social workers in promoting healthy and sustainable communities. He also highlighted various rural development schemes implemented through DRDA and emphasized community participation in achieving the goals of Swachh Bharat.
The students actively interacted with the resource person and gained valuable knowledge about rural development programmes, government welfare schemes, and the implementation of sanitation initiatives at the grassroots level. The visit provided practical insights into the administrative functioning of DRDA and enhanced the students' understanding of the role of social workers in community development.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. S. Vanathi, Assistant Professor, and Mr. Mahimai Kuzhanthai Yesu, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Social Work. The observation visit was highly informative and beneficial, enriching the field learning experience of the I MSW students.
